9. 'Rango' Johnny Depp -- by way of Hunter S. Thompson -- provides the titular voice of an animated chameleon in an identity crisis, who stumbles into a wry Wild West adventure filled with all the gnarly cowboy quirks you'd see in a classic Sergio Leone film.

8. 'Beginners' Christopher Plummer and Ewan McGregor play father and son in this movie about accepting who you really are. Plummer's character drops two late-in-life bombshells: He comes out of the closet and announces he has terminal cancer, revealing both facts to his shell-shocked son at once. Heartfelt and genuine, this is the year's sleeper hit, so far.

7. 'Cedar Rapids' This indie, starring Ed Helms and Anne Heche, came and went in theaters, overshadowed by the disappointing likes of 'The Hangover Part II.' But few films this year made us laugh as hard, or charmed us more, than this flick. A great premise delivered by a stellar cast, the Midwest-set comedy also gave John C. Reilly his due as one of the flat-out funniest people alive.

6. 'Win Win' This movie, about real people with real problems, celebrates the great things that come from helping others. From star Paul Giamatti, to Alex Shaffer's knockout debut performance as a troubled teen, to a script both poignant and hilarious, 'Win Win' is a simple film done extraordinarily well. And that's about as much as we can ask for when going to the movies.

5. 'X-Men: First Class' After the disaster that was 'Wolverine,' we were praying 'First Class' would turn out okay. Thankfully, it exceeded our expectations. 'First Class' traces the origins of some of our favorite mutants, including Charles Xavier, Mystique, Magneto, Havok and Beast. As for the villain, you knew Sebastian Shaw (played brilliantly by Kevin Bacon) was a perfect pick after the awful things he did during the opening sequence.

4. 'Tree of Life' Terrence Malick's ambitious meditation on childhood, spirituality and evolution isn't for everybody -- the Brad Pitt drama earned both boos and the Palme d'Or at Cannes. But for those who believe that film is also an art form, 'Tree of Life' is a welcome respite from summer's onslaught of angry robots and juiced-up superheroes (though, be warned, there are dinosaurs).

3. 'Bridesmaids' Featuring a bevy of talented actresses, 'Bridesmaids' married raunchy humor with real relationship dilemmas. As a result, every new comedy released between now and Dec. 31 will compete with 'Bridesmaids' to be pronounced "Funniest Film of 2011." Applying a classic Judd Apatow slacker-who-must-grow-up formula to 'SNL' star Kristen Wiig (who co-wrote the screenplay), 'Bridesmaids' is a nonstop escalation of bickering, reconciliations and breakdowns. While everyone else debated what the hit meant for women in comedy, 'Bridesmaids' simply did one thing: deliver great comedy.

2. 'Midnight in Paris' It's not easy to convey how much we loved this Woody Allen movie, because if we gave away details, we'd spoil the magic for everyone who hasn't seen it yet. That said, 'Midnight' is the one movie we've seen this year that had us grinning ear-to-ear from beginning to end. Owen Wilson has never been better, and of the 40-some-odd films in Allen's repertoire, it's pretty amazing that he's still makin' 'em this full of surprises.

1. 'Super 8' Director J.J. Abrams lays out a tale so clearly inspired by '70s/'80s Steven Spielberg, the legend himself agreed to produce it. A mysterious monster attacks a sleepy Ohio town, and against all odds, some middle-school movie geeks uncover the truth and save their neighbors, and their planet. But the heart of 'Super 8' isn't its spectacular effects. It's the kids in the cast (including exceptional newcomer Joel Courtney as Joe Lamb) who truly bring the film to life. We haven't seen an ensemble of child actors this good since 'Stand by Me,' and that's some serious praise.

Apple will release a white iPod touch late this year

Appleinsider reports that apple will publish a white iPod touch late this year with some new features. Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said recent industry checks point to Apple unveiling a white iPod Touch in August or September, which is typically when the company shows off its new portable music players. However, the new device will have few if any feature changes from the current iPod Touch, Kuo said.

Apple's iPod Touch is currently available in black. The device comes with a Retina display, HD video recording, and FaceTime video chatting. Apple sells 8GB, 32GB, and 64GB models for $229, $299, and $399.

Apple launching a white version of the iPod Touch with little to no improvement isn't unprecedented. Earlier this year, after a long wait, Apple finally launched the white iPhone 4, which delivered the same functionality as the black version. That device currently retails for $199 and $299 for 16GB and 32GB versions, respectively.

Exactly why Apple apparently won't update its flagship iPod this year is unknown. However, Kuo told AppleInsider that it could have something to do with Apple's desire to focus its mobile efforts on the iPhone and iPad.

It might not be a bad idea. Apple's iPod business has been on the decline as of late as the company's other mobile products soar. During Apple's fiscal third quarter, the company sold 7.54 million iPod units, representing a 20 percent decline year over year, it announced earlier this week. Apple sold 20.34 million iPhones and 9.25 million iPads to tally year-over-year gains of 142 percent and 183 percent, respectively.

During the fiscal third quarter, Apple's iPod revenue was just 4.6 percent of its total sales. During the same period last year, the iPod's revenue share stood at nearly 10 percent.

Even so, there's no telling what Apple might have planned. The company is notoriously secretive, and any rumor must be taken with a grain of salt.

Apple declined to comment on whether it will launch a new iPod later this year.

A further push out of the iPhone would, however, present some risk to expectations," analyst Chris Caso of Susquehanna Financial wrote in a note to clients.

Meanwhile, the analyst said that Qualcomm is expected to supply the baseband for the new iPhone.
Some saying Apple will release two iPhones, while some saying only one phone will be released.

Meanwhile, whole lots of theories about how a cheaper iPhone will fit into Apple's global strategy and its quest to lead the global smartphone market emerged following this report. RBC Capital analyst Mike Abramsky said he thought the "baby" iPhone, the cheaper version for the emerging markets will not be launched until 2012.

Keith Bachman of BMO Capital Markets says the iPhone 5 will launch in mid-2012.

Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Whitmore expects Apple to release iPhone 5 and a lower-end iPhone 4S handset in September.
"We expect Apple to refresh the iPhone in September, with two SKUs (stock keeping units); namely the iPhone 5 and a lower-end iPhone 4S handset," Whitmore wrote in a note to clients.

iPhone 5 is expected to be the normal refresh of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S is expected to be targeted at emerging markets or mid-range markets.

Analyst Ben Reitzes of Barclays Capital thinks otherwise. Reitzes said the potential "4S" model in 2011 will be 3G and feature a faster processor, an upgraded 8MP camera and be optimized for use with the new iOS5.

One of the major benefits of this new product could be expanded carrier relationships in the US and abroad, given the Qualcomm baseband, Reitzes said.

"We continue to expect Apple to launch a smaller, prepay iPhone - but more likely in 2012, both to avoid iPhone 5 cannibalization, and as its design may deeply leverage iCloud services for convenience and affordability," Abramsky wrote in a note to clients.

Though some analysts say iPhone 5 is unlikely to be revealed before 2012. But, there is little doubt with the Apple's plan of producing 25 million iPhones units by the end of 2011 and the release of iPhone 5 is round the corner.

Recently, Taiwan-based notebook-maker Pegatron Technology received an order for 15 million iPhone 5 units from Apple with a September shipment date, according to Digitimes.

As many reports are emerging that iPhone 5 will be launched only in 2012, let's take a look at the speculated hot features of iPhone 5:
